Can any mutuel fund gurus tell me if I should get into new funds.
Have OCRDX OPPENHEIMER RISING DIVIDENDS C and OTFCX OPPENHEIMER CAPITAL APPR C.
They've done alright. Had them for about 5 yrs and they've gone from 24k to 41k.
Haven't talked to the finacial advisor who put me in them in yrs. Not really an investment wiz so if anyone has any suggestions that'd be cool. :toast:

I'm not much of a mutual fund guy but I have always heard good things about the Dodge & Cox Stock Fund. I personally do not own any but more than one person I know has sang its praises. The fund may be closed to new investors but if its an option you should look into it. Good luck.

I'll chime in.

Oppenheimer is a decent shop.
The Ris. Div. is formerly Quest Value. They changed the name and manager. The new manager has an excellent track record.

The Cap. appreciation fund just retired and Opp. is merging several funds into this one. Also a lead manager just retired.

Performance is just OK in these and both portfolios have some similarites so you may not be as diversified as you think. If your broker isn't giving you much input then I would punt. Just realize that you need to do your own homework to find new investments and that doesn't mean the financial room in therx.

My advice is to talk to your broker for a few minutes express your questions about the changes that these funds have gone through and see if he has some recommendations there are better funds in the oppenhemier family that you could exchange into IMO.

And thats why they play the game.

Check on the share class that you are purchasing as well...

C shares charge a flat 1% per year forever... if you plan on holding these funds for a longer period of time A Shares may be a better option
